I don't think that is realistic but alas, it is a social normal for most places I have been in the USA. I can understand parents doing and saying what they need to in order to try to make sure their children are not "rude" because while we do not mind, others do. There are restaurants that even ban children! Of course I will never eat at those places on principle alone. Those places though exist and show there are people who just don't want to eat over the sounds of kids. Most parents feel that weight and where raised under it as well.
